Several great new features and improvements have been made to the RAD8 firmware, including wireless communication between the RAD8 and Capture, and the ability to schedule tests to start at a specified time. Durridge’s Capture software version 8.1 has been released. This version introduces several features, including the ability to start and stop RAD8 tests remotely using controls in the Chart Recorder Window. Capture 8.1 also delivers a number of bug fixes. Capture is available for Windows and macOS, and it is free to download.

One of the RAD8’s most exciting features is its built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. With Wi-Fi it is possible to monitor and control the RAD8 using a computer running Durridge’s Capture software, and it is also possible upload RAD8 test data to Capture Cloud, and download and install RAD8 firmware updates that increasingly expand the RAD8’s functionality. Some customers have inquired about the possibility of connecting the RAD8 to a wired local area network. Although the RAD8 does not contain an RJ45 port for connecting an ethernet cable, it is nevertheless possible to connect the instrument to a wired network by setting up a local access point.

Version 8.0.10 of Durridge’s Capture software has been released. This version introduces numerous usability improvements and several bug fixes, and it is recommended for all users. Capture is available for Windows and macOS, and it is free to download. Users are invited to upgrade to Capture Pro to unlock advanced functionality.

Durridge is pleased to announce the availability of Capture 8, which officially introduces RAD8 support, in addition to a slew of other new features and improvements. Capture 8 lets you download and analyze RAD8 and RAD7 data, monitor instrument statuses in real time, and issue commands to devices. Capture 8 is available in two editions: Capture 8 Pro, which costs $1200 and offers advanced RAD8-related functionality; and Capture 8 Lite, which is free and offers limited RAD8 functionality. Durridge’s chief scientist and managing director of Durridge UK, Dr. Stephen Sadler, represented Durridge at this month’s Goldschmidt conference on geochemistry in Lyon, France. Dr. Sadler introduced the RAD8 at the conference exhibition hall, with a poster presentation titled The RAD8 Continuous Radon Monitor for Quantitative Groundwater Tracing Applications. Conference attendees discovered the RAD8’s benefits, which include higher sensitivity, lower background, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a waterproof enclosure.
