Version 2.5.8 (June 2022):

When a Settings Sheet is generated automatically, the RAD7 Calibration Tool now pre-populates the Pump mA field and HVDC fields by issuing commands to the RAD7, provided Factory Mode is enabled.

It is now possible to edit the maximum permissible rate of radon concentration rise relative to that of the Standards. This figure can affect how long it takes to complete a calibration run. It is set to 0.5% by default.

The Install RADLINK menu command can now be used to transfer RADLINK version 313 to any RAD7s that do not already have RADLINK installed.

A log file now contains information about the generation of Radon Calibration Reports. This file can be viewed by choosing the Show Application Log Files command in the File Menu, and navigating up to the parent folder, titled DURRIDGE RAD7 Calibration Tool.

Version 2.5.7 (February 2022):

It is now much easier to print calibration reports and certificates based on the most recent available calibration data for a RAD7 that is no longer connected to the system. Previously this required manually specifying the needed calibration data file and standard data files from which reports and certificates are synthesized.

The RAD7 Calibration Tool now uses a single consistent set of criteria to determine whether an RH calibration procedure has been completed and/or whether one should be completed for a given device.

RH Calibration Report files are no longer deleted as a result of being incorrectly identified as redundant Radon Calibration Reports.

When a Pre-Cal Check Report is generated, it no longer written to disk if an identical report from a recent day already exists.

In the Create Document Window, the radio button used to base the new document on the currently selected document is now labeled with the appropriate serial number.

The RAD7 Calibration Tool now identifies redundant data subsets much more rapidly when evaluating large collections of calibration data upon the completion of each test cycle. This prevents the program from becoming unresponsive when large data sets are present.

The overall responsiveness of the RAD7 Calibration Tool has been improved further by decreasing the frequency at which reports are automatically regenerated in the background, and by preventing reports from being generated in the background when the mouse cursor is moving within the main application window.

Version 2.5.6 (January 2022):

Hardware Configuration records now contain Detector Type and Pump Batch Number fields.

When creating a Hardware Configuration, Settings Sheet, or Text Note, it is now possible to base the new document on either the file currently selected in the Document Browser, or the most recently created file of the same type for the selected device.

A button now makes it easy to add a special note to a calibration certificate indicating that the calibration was made without any adjustment of the operating parameters of the RAD7, and represents the sensitivity of the instrument in exactly the state in which it was received by the technician.

When reprinting a previously printed Calibration Certificate that included a technician’s digital signature, the signature now appears correctly in the document preview panel. This addresses a bug that was added in an earlier version of the software.

When printing a blank RAD7 Calibration Certificate or reprinting a previously scanned Calibration Certificate, unneeded controls no longer appear in the Print Radon Calibration Certificates window.

A warning now appears when the user attempts to initiate a calibration procedure for a RAD7 whose Year Offset value is incorrect.

The Program State Panel readings are now spaced further apart so that they appear correctly on systems with a variety of display configurations.

Pressing the Tab key now moves the focus between fields in the correct order.

Version 2.5.5 (November 2021):

The new Calibrate RAD7 Calibration System window makes it possible to determine the correct sensitivity settings for a set of Standard RAD7s based on a known radon concentration figure reported by a radon calibration laboratory, and the figure reported by a Transfer Standard device that has been exposed to the radon in the calibration laboratory.

Digital signatures can now be applied to a Thoron Calibration Memos, in the same manner in which digital signatures can be be applied to Radon Calibration Certificates. The user interface of the Thoron Calibration Window has been updated to facilitate this functionality.

If special notes are assigned to a Thoron Calibration Memo, any line breaks are now handled properly. Previously line breaks were misrepresented on the printed memo.

The labels at the top of a RAD7’s status box indicating the state of the device now fit more cleanly within the available space.

In the Document Browser device list, connected RAD7s are now labeled in bold, and Standard RAD7s are now labeled with red text.

In the RAD7 Statuses panel, when the divider between the RAD7 status boxes and the program state panel is hidden and then restored, it now reappears in its previous position, rather than always appearing a fixed distance from the bottom of the program window.

When a RAD7 is selected in the Document Browser, its status box will now be automatically pre-selected when returning to the Program State Panel.

When a new Settings Sheet, Hardware Configuration, or Text Note is created using the Create Document panel, the document is now assigned a default serial number matching that of whichever device is selected in the previously visible panel, which may be either the Document Browser or Program State panel.

The Thoron Calibration Window now correctly identifies the connected RAD7s and preselects the first selected RAD7 by default. This resolves a bug that was introduced in version 2.5.4, and improves the preselection functionality.

During RH Calibration operations, the Program Log is now updated only when the RH Calibration starts and finishes. In order to minimize the number of log entries, it is no longer updated at rapid intervals throughout the RH Calibration process.

The algorithm for identifying and deleting redundant calibration reports is now more dependable.

Version 2.5.4 (October 2021):

On the real-time Program State graph display, if a RAD7 that is undergoing calibration is selected, the bounds of the graph Y axis are now determined based on only the data cycles included in the calibration report, rather than all the data cycles from the entire calibration run. As a result, the most relevant information is displayed more prominently.

When documents are imported into the Calibration Data Archive, the program now offers the option of deleting the documents from their original locations. This accommodates the importation of documents from a folder of temporary scanned files.

On-screen text is now slightly larger to improve readability: labels that were previously 11 points are now 12 points, and labels that were previously 12 points are now 13 points.

When entering the name of a device or document in the Document Browser’s search fields, the appropriate item is now automatically selected in the corresponding list.

Device serial numbers now support alphanumeric characters. Previously only numeric characters were supported.

When creating a Hardware Configuration entry for a new RAD7, the RoHS checkbox is now checked by default.

The numerical constant used for accessing RAD7 stability has been refined to expedite calibration processes without compromising accuracy.

The Set Selected RAD7 Clocks to Current UTC Time command now works correctly. Previously this command erroneously set the RAD7 clock to the London UK time zone.

On the RAD7 Statuses Panel, the label indicating the number of seconds that a Standard RAD7 has drifted off schedule is now expressed more clearly when the RAD7 contains an unexpected number of cycles.

The radon concentration listing in a RAD7 status box now contains a colored indicator light only if the RAD7 is a Standard, or if it has already completed a calibration. This prevents attention from being drawn to the radon reading when its accuracy is not an area of concern.

Version 2.5.3 (September 2021):

In the Program State panel and Report Data Graph panel, graph images now include shaded regions indicating the uncertainty band around the slope of the Standard average. Slope data is now presented more intelligently.

An error no longer occurs when the program attempts to generate a radon calibration report and no Standard RAD7 record sets are available.

When a radon calibration certificate is printed, the checkbox for assigning a digital signature to the certificate is now checked by default.

A Disconnect Selected RAD7s menu command has been added to the The RAD7 menu in the menubar. When the selected RAD7s are disconnected, they become accessible to other applications such as CAPTURE.

Version 2.5.2 (August 2021):

A problem with the parsing of the date and time ranges listed in report headers has been fixed. This restores the program’s ability to reliably calculate which calibration reports can be safely overwritten by newer ones.

In the Hardware Settings editor, all of the properties are now labeled correctly.

RAD7s with certain hardware configurations no longer trigger errors when launching the Calibration Tool.

Version 2.5.1 (August 2021):

Information on calibration technicians is now encapsulated in Calibration Technician Profiles. Each profile consists of the technician’s name, NRSB certification number, and a digital signature. Calibration Technician Profiles can be managed using a button in the Print Radon Calibration Certificates Window. The profiles are preserved in the application preferences.

A digital signature may now contain characters that drop below the baseline. The baseline is specified via a red pixel at the intended vertical location of the baseline, within the first vertical column of pixels in the signature image. If a digital signature image is larger than the maximum permitted image size of 712 by 128 pixels, the user is now warned that the image will be resized, and that the resampling may compromise any pixel indicating the baseline position.

Hardware Configuration records now include a Detector Batch Number field. When Settings Sheets are printed, the Detector Batch Number is included in the hardware summary at the top of the page.

When visualizing calibration report data in a Program State graph or Report Data Graph, the shaded region representing the uncertainty of the average is now rendered more accurately in terms of scale and positioning. Previously the final point in the data sequence was erroneously excluded from the calculation.

In the Program State Panel, the region along the right edge of the window now contains controls for specifying the scale and style of the real-time data graph, and for viewing basic statistics pertaining to the calibration report for the selected RAD7.

A RAD7 clock can now be set to the current UTC Time using a menu command. When a RAD7 clock is set to UTC time, a UTC icon appears in the RAD7’s Status Box.

A warning light now appears in the Program State section of the RAD7 Statuses panel if one or more of the Standard RAD7s have drifted off its original schedule to a significant degree. This may occur if a Standard has been operating continuously for significantly more than 1 month. If this happens the Standard RAD7s should be stopped, erased, and restarted.

An application error no longer occurs if an attempt is made to calibrate a RAD7 that has been running in the calibration system for longer than the accompanying Standard RAD7s.

When calibrating a RAD7 for which device information is unavailable, an application error no longer occurs after the user is prompted to specify the device details.

When importing a calibration document, the program can now identify the serial number and date in a file name, even if the name does not adhere to strict formatting requirements. Any sequence of numbers immediately following the letters “SN” is now recognized as a device serial number, and any 8-digit number sequence is now recognized as a date, using the format YYYYMMDD. For example a serial number and date can now be extracted from the file name “Certificate for unit SN5329 scanned on 20200813.png”. Previously it would have been necessary to use a rigidly defined format: “Certificate-SN05329-20200813.png”.

The mouse cursor crosshair now moves more smoothly across the Program State graph panel, providing a more responsive user interface. Background processes that are not time-critical are now temporarily suspended until the cursor is no longer moving within the graph panel.

When a RAD7 Status Box is selected, the program no longer pauses to access the associated data files. These files are now loaded only when the Document Browser panel is selected, improving the application’s responsiveness.

Emojis representing RAD7 operational states have been improved where appropriate, and emojis whose meanings are not self-evident have been removed.

When a Calibration Report is selected in the Document Browser and the Report Data Graph is being viewed, basic statistics now appear under the graph image.

When creating a new Settings Sheet, if the user-specified RAD7 serial number is higher than that of nearly all the RAD7s in the calibration data archive, the Setting Sheet’s Customer property is now set to “New Unit” by default.

In a Settings Sheet, the “DC Percent” property is now labeled “High Voltage Duty Cycle”, making it consistent with the nomenclature in the RAD7 User’s Manual and CAPTURE software.

Version 2.5 (May 2021):

It is now possible to limit the number of cycles included in a Calibration Report such that the report encompasses a specified number of A Window counts. If this option is enabled, the default value is 40,000 counts, which is enough to permit a result with an acceptably low margin of statistical error. If a value under 40,000 is chosen, the user will be prompted to confirm the change.

In order for a RAD7 calibration procedure to be considered complete, it is now necessary for the RAD7’s A Window to accumulate 40,000 counts, or (optionally) a manually specified limit, which may be lower. If this condition is not met the calibration report is marked “Preliminary”. Previously calibration procedures were considered complete only if they ran for 3 or more days, but this did not account for the effect the radon concentration in the calibration system.

When data is obtained from a RAD7, the cumulative spectrum information is now included in the resulting data file. The cumulative spectrum can be viewed by selecting the data file in the Document Browser. When a data file containing cumulative spectrum information is opened in CAPTURE 6.0.5 or later, the spectrum will be visible in CAPTURE’s Graph Window.

When a RAD7 that is being calibrated or has recently undergone calibration is selected in the RAD7 Statuses Panel, the graph image in the Program State display now contains vertical dotted lines indicating the timing of the first and last cycles that were included in the RAD7’s Calibration Report.

Likewise, when a Calibration Report is selected in the Document Browser, the graph image in the Report Data Graph tab now contains vertical dotted lines indicating the first and last records that were included in the Calibration Report.

When a RAD7 Calibration Data file is selected in the Document Browser, the graph’s selection bars are now automatically repositioned to frame the records that were included in the associated Calibration Report, if one exists, either on disk or in program memory.

The RAD7 state label in the top right corner of each RAD7 Status Box now displays an emoji indicating the status of the RAD7’s calibration. An hourglass icon with sand on top indicates that a RAD7 still needs more time to calibrate. An hourglass icon with sand on the bottom indicates that the RAD7 is eligible to complete its calibration. A dart hitting a target icon indicates that the RAD7 has already been calibrated.

If a particular RAD7 is selected in the RAD7 Statuses Panel, switching to the Document Browser will now immediately reveal that RAD7’s latest radon calibration data file, if such a file exists.

In the Document Browser, the selected document is now labeled more accurately at the top of the document content panel.

When a RAD7 data file is selected in the Document Browser, more informative statistics now appear under the interactive graph. The first set of statistics apply to the selected region, and a second set of statistics apply to the entire data set.

When printing Calibration Reports and Certificates, separate Print dialog boxes now appear for each document type, making it possible to choose a different printer for each.

When printing Calibration Reports, a preview panel now appears showing a navigable page layout.

Pre-Cal Reports, Text Notes, and Thoron Cal Factor Reports can now be printed using File menu commands.

When an unexpected error occurs, the DURRIDGE RAD7 Calibration Tool now reports more detailed error messages to improve traceability.

Authorized Calibration Tool users are now given access to additional visualization features during calibration. Conversely, certain proprietary information is now shielded from unauthorized users.

The Durridge RAD7 Calibration Tool documentation is now provided in PDF format, and is hosted on the Durridge website.

In the Program State section of the RAD7 Statuses panel, a light now indicates whether all of the connected RAD7s are reporting the same temperature value.

In the RAD7 Statuses panel and the Document Browser, dates and times are now labelled more accurately along the X axis of graph images.

The appearance of graph images has been improved in situations in which only one Standard RAD7 is present.

Version 2.4.6 and 2.4.7 (February 2021):

When a Calibration Report is selected in the Document Browser, it is now possible to view a Report Data Graph. This graph can be used to compare the performance of the calibrated RAD7 against that of the Standard RAD7s that were involved in the calibration. The graph style can be set to display data in absolute terms, or relative to the Standards. Report Data Graphs are only available if a calibration procedure has been completed and a print operation has already been initiated.

RAD7 Model numbers are no longer printed on RAD7 Calibration Certificates.

When logged in as a Durridge technician, the Data Archive Statistics panel now displays information about the distribution of RAD7 Model numbers.

When a text-based report is selected in the Document Browser, an “Open in Text Editor” button is now provided, allowing the report to be easily opened and printed.

RAD7 Calibration Certificates are now rendered in higher detail on HiDPI (Retina) displays.

If a RAD7’s print format is set to Medium and Thoron reporting has been enabled in the RAD7’s Setup menu, the Calibration Tool now correctly parses the device’s printer output. Previously the program was unable to parse printer output under these conditions.

Version 2.4.5 (January 2021):

When a Relative Humidity calibration procedure is performed, the Factory CalbSav command is now issued so that the new humidity calibration parameter is saved to the RAD7.

When starting a calibration procedure, if one or more of the selected RAD7s is set to the incorrect date or time, the program now offers to correct the clocks.

If the calibration date of a Standard RAD7 is set to an incorrect date from the future, the RAD7 Calibration Tool software no longer crashes.

If the Cal Date of a Standard RAD7 is set to an unreasonable value, an alert icon now appears in the RAD7’s status box.

If an error occurs while constructing a Calibration Report, more precise information about the nature of the error is now included in the application log file.

Unnecessary data analysis is no longer performed while constructing Calibration Reports.

Version 2.4.4 (November 2020):

In the Settings and Tolerances panel, it is now possible to specify the number of cycles to omit from the end of a run. Previously it was only possible to omit cycles from the beginning of a run. This new option can be used to salvage RAD7 calibration data in the event of a system pump failure or other unexpected problem.

The formula for determining whether a RAD7 is synched with the Standard RAD7s has been improved, and RAD7 statuses are now correctly identified on a consistent basis.

Real-time graph images no longer contain gaps in areas where the Standard RAD7s are not closely synched to the RAD7s being calibrated.

The real-time graph image is now updated once per second, instead of fifteen times per second. This reduces the program’s CPU usage, allowing the computer to run cooler and quieter.

When the End Operation button is clicked, the program now prompts the user to confirm that they want to stop the selected RAD7(s).

Checkboxes have been added to the Document Browser’s graph panel for toggling the visibility of the graph lines showing radon, air temperature, and relative humidity.

RAD7 status boxes now indicate the instrument’s Year Offset. If the Year Offset value is inconsistent with the current year, a red warning light appears. Otherwise a green light appears.

The Program State section of the RAD7 Status panel now indicates whether all of the connected RAD7s have been configured with the appropriate Year Offsets.

In the Program State panel, the “All RAD7 clocks synced” status light now appears green if each RAD7’s clock is within 120 seconds of the correct time. This is consistent with the appearance of the status lights that accompany the clock in each RAD7’s status box.

The Program State panel now lists the number of RAD7s that are synced to the Standard RAD7s, along with a light that turns green or gray as appropriate.

In the Settings Set Editor, the warning light accompanying the Year Offset field now turns red or green with respect to more precise criteria.

Thoron calibration reports now list the source of the thoron strength.

A bug related to monitoring the status of deleted files in the Trash has been fixed.

Version 2.4.3 (January 2020):

In the Document Browser, the the search field below the list of RAD7s now functions properly. This resolves a bug that was introduced in version 2.4.2.

When selecting a RAD7 in the Document Browser, the list of RAD7 data files now appears much more rapidly. This addresses a performance issue that was introduced earlier in the version 2.4 release cycle.

The Validate Data Archive feature now gathers results more quickly. This addresses a performance issue that was introduced earlier in the version 2.4 release cycle.

When importing a calibration document, the Import Window now lists the origin path of the file being imported, in addition to the destination. Previously only the file’s destination was listed.

Version 2.4.2 (January 2020):

The timing of the completion of a Standard RAD7’s data cycle is now permitted to drift as far as 12 minutes away from its original schedule of operation. Since a Standard RAD7 is meant to conclude each of its cycles 5 minutes before the end of an hour, it is therefore allowed to conclude a cycle at any time between 43 minutes before the hour and 7 minutes after the hour. Standard RAD7s were previously allowed to drift to anywhere between 10 minutes before the hour and 10 minutes after the hour, but since the instrument was intended to complete a cycle at 5 minutes before the hour, this meant that its timing was allowed to shift by no more than 5 minutes ahead of its original schedule, or else any ongoing RAD7 calibration procedures would be invalidated. This could easily occur after a month or more of uninterrupted operation. The new looser tolerances will ensure that calibration procedures remain valid even if the Standard RAD7s continuing operating for up to two months without being reset.

When printing RAD7 Calibration Reports, it is now possible to specify whether to include rows for the omitted RAD7 cycles from the start of the calibration run. If a significant number of cycles are omitted from the calibration run, the associated rows may be excluded from the calibration report to reduce its length and conserve paper and printer ink.

When printing RAD7 Calibration Reports, if a report consists of an odd number of pages, a blank page is now appended to the end of the report. This makes it possible to print multiple consecutive reports using 2-sided printing, without each successive report starting on the reverse side of the page on which the preceding report concluded. This change restores a feature that was lost when the printing system was redesigned in an earlier release.

The Data Archive Statistics Window now gathers results more quickly. This corrects a problem with the previous version of the RAD7 Calibration Tool, which used a slower process for iterating through calibration data.

Version 2.4.1 (November 2019):

When printing multiple RAD7 Calibration Reports simultaneously, the first page of each successive report is no longer printed on top of the last page of the preceding report. This resolves a bug that was introduced in RAD7 Calibration Tool version 2.4.

In the Settings and Tolerances panel, the controls used for specifying whether to keep a limited number of cycles in a calibration run are now enabled only when the panel is unlocked.

The maximum tolerated timing difference between Standard RAD7s and test units has been increased from 5 minutes to 10 minutes. This resolves a bug that was introduced in version 2.4 which caused RAD7s to be identified as ‘Live’ instead of ‘Rn Cal Live’ while undergoing calibration.

In the Document Browser, the buttons for toggling between the “As Printed” and “As Signed” versions of a RAD7 Calibration Certificate now work properly. This resolves a bug that was introduced in RAD7 Calibration Tool version 2.4.

Version 2.4 (November 2019):

If a Pre-Calibration Check run concludes when the RAD7 Calibration Tool software is not running, the program will now generate a Pre-Calibration Check Report the next time it launches, provided the associated RAD7 is still connected to the computer. The Pre-Calibration Check Report will be viewable in the lower section of the RAD7 Statuses panel, and it will also be saved to the Calibration Data Archive so that it can be viewed in the Document Browser.

Pre-Calibration Check reports now indicate whether a RAD7’s as-received sensitivity and spill factor values differ from the expected values, as recorded on the previous Calibration Settings Set, if one is available.

In the Settings and Tolerances Panel there is a new checkbox, “Keep only the last __ cycles”. If this box is checked, the number of cycles included in future calibration data set will be restricted to no more than the number specified, and any preceding records will be omitted.

A new system for printing multipage RAD7 Calibration Reports has been implemented. When a report is printed on macOS 10.15 Catalina, the text is now properly aligned, and it will no longer be offset by an increasing degree on each subsequent page.

It is now possible to print Calibration Reports and Certificates even if the calibration run has not completed enough cycles to be valid. However in that situation it is not possible to save a digital record of the print operation to disk. In this case a warning message appears, stating “A digital record of this print operation… will not be saved to disk. The RAD7 calibration run did not complete enough cycles.”

When a RAD7 begins a calibration run, its cycle times are now configured such that each cycle starts and ends exactly on the hour. Standard RAD7s now operate on a slightly accelerated schedule; each new cycle begins 5 minutes before the start of the hour. This ensues that calibration reports can be successfully constructed as soon as a test unit’s cycle is completed, without having to first wait for data to be retrieved from the Standard RAD7s.

When the Print Calibration Reports and Certificates Window appears, if the user was previously viewing the Document Browser, the Print Exact Copies of Previously Printed Documents radio button is now selected by default. Previously the Print Documents for Selected RAD7s radio button was selected by default even if the RAD7 Statuses Panel was not previously active.

Problems with the synchronization of calibration records no longer occur when the operation of a Standard RAD7 is temporarily interrupted.

Thoron Calibration Certification Reports are now referred to as “Thoron Calibration Memos” in order to draw a clearer distinction between them and Thoron Calibration Factor Reports. New Thoron Calibration Memos are saved with an updated file name, but existing ones using the old file name format are still visible in the Document Browser. Reclassifying an existing thoron calibration memo updates its file name on disk as necessary.

When exiting the Document Browser and entering another application panel, the contents of the RAD7 Search and Calibration Document Search fields are now reset.

The Data Archive Statistics panel now provides additional details regarding RAD7 sensitivity fluctuations for authorized users.

In the Thoron Calibration Window, the Flow Rate and Other Volume fields now support up to three significant digits after the decimal point. Previously the numbers entered in these fields were truncated to two digits after the decimal point.

When creating a new Hardware Configuration, the Detector Size is now set to “Regular Detector”, the Dome Size is now set to “Regular Dome”, and the Power Input is now set to “12V DC Only 2.5” by default.

When importing a document into the Calibration Data Archive, if the document is a scanned image and it has large dimensions (more than 4 million pixels) but a small file size (under 100 KB), the Preserve Document As Is checkbox is now checked by default. This prevents the program from needlessly recompressing images that have already been properly optimized.

When importing multiple documents at the same time, it is now possible to skip over the importation of a particular document and move on to the next one. Previously it was only possible to either proceed with the importation of each document or cancel the entire process.

There is now more distance between the the labels along the Y axis of graphs and charts.

The Calibration Tool application no longer prompts the user to empty the trash if doing so would lead to a system error. This addresses a bug affecting macOS 10.15 Catalina.

When selecting a RAD7 Data File in the Document Browser, if the RAD7 pump was off throughout the entire test, the Pump Current is now listed as “N/A” in the statistics panel under the graph display. Otherwise a pump current reading is listed, with the stipulation “(When Active)”.

If there is a problem with a Calibration Certificate or Report and it can not be displayed when selected in the Document Browser, a brief explanation now appears in the document viewing panel.

If the user quits the RAD7 Calibration Tool application while an RH Calibration is underway, a dialog box appears warning that the RH Calibration is unfinished, and the user is given the opportunity to keep the program running. This functionality was previously broken.

Version 2.3.3 (July 2019):

If the RAD7 Calibration Tool detects a problem with a RAD7 data record and generates an error message that happens to include an unbroken string of 80 or more characters, the program no longer enters an infinite loop while attempting to format the text for output. This pertains specifically to cases in which space characters do not appear between the comma-delimited elements comprising a record.

The View Data Archive Statistics Window now displays more pertinent information, including the number of RAD7s added to the calibration data archive per year. Additionally, the histograms showing the distribution of RAD7 sensitivities now account for only the first calibration of each RAD7. This prevents some RAD7s from exerting disproportionate influence when the distribution of sensitivities is calculated.

When a RAD7 Calibration Report is printed, and when a previously printed report is viewed in the Document Browser, the name of the calibration technician now appears at the bottom of the report. The technician’s name is obtained from a field in the Print Radon Calibration Certificates Window.

The last three text headings on a RAD7 Calibration Certificate are now right-justified. These include “Technician Certification No:”, “Calibration Technician”, and “Signature”.

The Document Browser’s graphing panel now displays horizontal and vertical grid lines at the optimal intervals, with respect to the physical size of the graph and the zoom level. Previously the axis lines were liable to be drawn either too close together or too far apart under certain circumstances.

Version 2.3.2 (July 2019):

When printing Calibration Certificates on A4 paper, there are no longer problems with text alignment.

After using the Print Setup dialog box to change the paper type, the selected document preview is now refreshed immediately.

When an RH Calibration Report is selected in the Document Browser, the report can now be printed by choosing the new Print RH Calibration Report command in the File Menu.

When printing a Thoron Calibration Certification Report, lines now wrap properly.

Version 2.3.1 (May 2019):

The RAD7 Calibration Tool can now remember user passwords so that they don’t have to be reentered each time the program launches. Passwords are encoded into a heavily obfuscated format on the local computer.

Passwords are no longer stored on a Durridge internet server; instead a hash of the password is stored, making it very difficult for the password to be stolen by unauthorized users, even if the server data is obtained.

If a RAD7 is not in Factory Mode when it is calibrated, a warning message now appears on the Calibration Certificate indicating that the CB Spill Factor was not able to be programmed into the instrument when the calibration was completed.

When a user is logged in as an authorized Durridge technician, the RAD7 Calibration Tool now labels Settings Sheets and Hardware Configurations with additional technical details for internal use.

When printing a RAD7 Calibration Certificate, a pop-up menu can now be used to automatically populate the certificate with information about the previous calibration procedure, including the date, Normal and Sniff sensitivities, and CB Spill Factor. If this pop-up menu is set to ‘Custom’, the previous calibration information can be entered manually.

If the Print RAD7 Calibration Reports Checkbox is checked in the Print Calibration Reports and Certificates Window, and a certificate that was previously signed and scanned is chosen for printing, the printer no longer outputs a series of blank pages before printing the certificate.

Problems with graph labeling in the RAD7 Statuses panel have been resolved.

The application no longer reports an error when displaying a Thoron Calibration Certification Report if no company logo has been chosen.

The formatting of the columns of numbers on Thoron Calibration Factor Reports has been improved.

When a RAD7 Calibration Report is printed, the content of each successive page is no longer offset vertically.

When creating a new RAD7 Hardware Profile that is not based on an existing profile, the Dome Material now defaults to Metallized, and the Tubing Type now defaults too Tygon.

When importing a calibration document, a warning message now appears if the specified settings would produce an optimized document with a larger file size than the original unoptimized document.

The format of the RAD7 Calibration Certificate has been adjusted to provide more room for the signature of the calibration technician.

Version 2.3 (March 2019):

In the Document Browser, PDF documents may now be loaded in the same way as other scanned images such as PNGs and JPEGs. This behavior can be configured using the “Display PDFs as Images in Document Browser” checkbox in the Settings and Tolerances panel. Previously PDF documents were always loaded into an HTML Viewer, and this produced unpredictable results since different computers have different HTML rendering systems, and some of these lack the ability to display PDFs.

The number of Y axis labels that appear on graph images is now determined based on the height of the image and the label scale. Previously Y axis labels were spaced too far apart or too close together if the image was very large or small.

The real-time graph image in the Program State panel now contains a line indicating the average radon concentration of the calibration standard RAD7s.

During RAD7 status updates, if the Special GetCal command response indicates that any of a RAD7’s calibration factors are zero, the response is deemed invalid and the command is repeated.

When scanned documents are imported and saved as 256-color PNG images, they are now compressed using optimized 8-bit palettes. This results in superior image quality, and in some cases smaller file sizes. The optimization process is performed in the background, so the controls in the Import Calibration Document window remain usable while the system is working. When an image is palletized, the contents of the palette are previewed on the screen.

When importing scanned documents, any image-based file set to Millions of Colors is now always saved in the JPEG format; otherwise it is saved in the PNG format.

The Import Calibration Documents Window now contains buttons for rotating scanned images 90 degrees, -90 degrees, and 180 degrees.

When creating a new RAD7 Hardware Profile, the Functional Factory Reset Button property is now set to Functional by default.

The RAD7 Hardware Profile no longer contains the HV PEM Nut property.

When editing a RAD7 Hardware Profile, the specified Dome Batch Date values are now saved in the application preferences, and recalled the next time a new Hardware Profile is created.

Inherent references to the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) have been removed, so that uses may specify another credentialing agency as appropriate.

The program now instructs the user how to verify the RAD7’s firmware version before installing RADLINK.

The RAD7 Menu in the menubar now contains a command for disabling Factory mode on the selected RAD7(s).

A sign-in feature has been added for use by customers who license the Durridge RAD7 Calibration Tool for their own use.

The RAD7 status panels now display each instrument’s Energy Scale (aka “E-Scale”) alongside the other calibration values. The E-Scale can be configured using the Set Spectrum Energy Scale command in the RAD7 menu, in the menubar.

The Graph display can now be configured to show a RAD7’s concentration level relative to the average of that of the Standard RAD7s, as opposed to displaying the concentration as an absolute value.

The properties that are listed on Settings Sheets are now labeled with descriptive names instead of just abbreviations.

Versions 2.2.7 and 2.2.8 (October 2018):

It is now possible to print multiple pages of Settings Sheet data at the same time using the Print Settings Sheets Window. The number of data columns per page is automatically determined based on the page width; four columns can fit across a standard sheet of A4 or Letter-sized paper. The print preview area contains controls for toggling between multiple pages. Additionally, controls have been added for toggling the selection of included Settings Sheets to All or None.

On printed Calibration Settings Sheets, the arrow symbols and figures indicating the degree to which Normal, Sniff, and Thoron sensitivity values have increased or decreased since the preceding calibration are now aligned within each column.

The RAD7 menu in the menubar now contains a “Download RAD7 Data to File” command. This operation saves the selected RAD7’s data in R7CDT format, using a file name and location of the user’s choosing.

RAD7 Calibration Reports are no longer generated unless all of the Standard RAD7s have finished recording cycles that correspond to the last cycle of the RAD7 being calibrated.

When a RAD7 Calibration Report is generated, any superfluous records belonging to the test unit or the associated Standards are ignored, ensuring parity between the printed report and the copy saved to disk.

When Standard RAD7s are started, they now begin slightly ahead of schedule, in order to accommodate the minor clock drift that occurs during a month of continuous operation.

A bug has been fixed that could cause an error message to appear if sensitivity figures were applied to a RAD7 before they were properly calculated.

In the Hardware Settings editor, the HV Pem Nut control has been changed from a Popup Menu to a Combo Box, making it possible to enter custom values, in addition to the default choices of “Unspecified”, “Tested and Repaired”, and “Tested”.

It is now possible to exclude Bluetooth serial ports from the process of scanning for RAD7s. This behavior is enabled by default to improve performance.

The first column of a printed Calibration Settings Sheet now contains information about how much the Normal, Sniff, and Thoron sensitivities changed since the preceding calibration, if possible.

It is no longer possible to install RADLINK version 301 on a RAD7. This option was disabled because the only versions of RADLINK that are currently needed for RAD7s being serviced are versions 253 and 311.

Double-clicking on a RAD7 data file no longer causes the Calibration Tool to launch. (The file will open in CAPTURE instead.) Moreover it is no longer possible to drag a RAD7 data file onto the Calibration Tool to open it.

Selecting a column in the table of Hardware Configurations or Settings Sheets by clicking on a cell no longer causes the table to scroll in such a way that the selected column moves to the left edge of the table.

Versions 2.2.5 and 2.2.6 (June 2018):

The RAD7 Calibration Tool now supports the importing of scanned “As Received” RAD7 Calibration Certificates. These documents can be optimized during importation and viewed in the Document Browser, as with other scanned files.

When viewing and printing Settings Sheets in a table format, the enabled columns are now listed in the correct chronological order. In general, any issues with list ordering that may be tied to the use of the AFS file system have been resolved.

It is now possible to set a RAD7’s clock to the current time, even if the clock is not off by a significant amount, as when the instrument is received from a different time zone.

Support for language systems that utilize decimal commas (as opposed to decimal points) has been implemented. Previously the use of decimal commas interfered with the parsing of user input and saved files, and caused problems with the rendering of graph data. Decimal points are always used in generated calibration certificates and reports, regardless of system settings.

When the average Pump Current is reported for a RAD7 Record Set or for a selection of graph data points, only the records in which the RAD7’s pump was active are now factored into the average.

When printing Settings Sheets, Up and Down arrow icons now identify the directions of any changes in Normal, Sniff, and Thoron sensitivities. Arrow icons no longer appear for other properties, in either the Document Browser or on printouts.

Improvements have been made to the system for importing PDF documents into the Calibration Archive. When setting the Number of Colors to “Black and White” or “16 Shades of Gray”, a document is now re-saved as necessary to achieve the user-requested color depth, even if this causes the file size to increase.

When a Photo or Video file in the Calibration Archive is reclassified, its caption data is now preserved, unless the file is reclassified as a file type that does not support captioning.

When a scanned file or other document is imported or reclassified, the Program Log is now updated with details about the operation.

The correct CALIBN figures are now listed on Settings Sheets when they are printed.

Version 2.2.4 (May 2018):

In the Settings Sheet editor, the field for entering the CALIBN PCT DIFF value has been removed. This value is now calculated automatically.

When importing scanned calibration documents, the Date controls now default to the current date, and the Document Type controls now default to the most recently chosen calibration document type. If the file type and date can be determined based on the content of the file’s name, that information still takes priority.

When viewing a Calibration Report in the Document Browser, the Report content is now consistent with any corresponding Calibration Certificate printed on the same day. Previously this was only the case if the Report was printed at the same time as the Certificate.

Settings Sheets and Hardware Configs are now listed in the correct chronological order when viewed in a table.

Version 2.2.3 (May 2018):

A bug preventing the importation of scanned images has been fixed. This bug was introduced in the previous version, v2.2.2.

On the graph display panel, improvements have been made to the display of radon concentrations, record modes, and dates which appear under the cursor and at the base of each selection bar.

When a RAD7 is connected, messages that a new RAD7 Profile was created are no longer added to the Program Log.

Version 2.2.2 (April 2018):

The RAD7 Calibration Tool is now a 64-bit macOS application.

When a RAD7 Calibration Report is printed, any Special Request Info is now placed on a separate Appendix page. This frees up space on the main page, allowing for more generous line spacing. When a certificate does not contain Special Request Info, the certificate content now fills the page without as much empty space at the bottom.

It is no longer possible to initiate a RAD7 calibration procedure if one or more of the Standard RAD7s is set to the incorrect date or time.

Hardware Configurations now include a new property, “HV PEM Nut”. It can be set to either “Tested”, “ Tested and Repaired”, or “Unspecified”.

In the Document Browser, the technician-specified notes for selected Settings Sheets are now concatenated and displayed at the bottom of the Document Browser viewing panel. The same is true of the Hardware Configuration notes for the selected RAD7.

When viewing Settings Sheets in the Document Browser, the stated sensitivities, spill factors, and other calibrated values are now accompanied by the percent change observed since the preceding calibration.

The battery voltage is now represented by a battery meter icon on the RAD7 Status Panel.

Certain user interface elements and graphical assets have been enhanced for HiDPI/Retina displays.

Version 2.2.1 (March 2018):

When a scanned image file is imported, the Calibration Tool now automatically downsamples the image to 300 pixels per inch if its resolution is initially greater than 300 pixels per inch.

Scanned images can now be enhanced when imported, or when being reclassified. Three levels of Image Enhancement are offered: “Strong”, “Weak”, and “None”. When an imported image is enhanced its brightness levels are adjusted, a gain filter is applied, a normalization filter is applied, and the image is sharpened. The default image enhancement setting for scanned documents is “Strong”. Imported photographic images are not set to be enhanced by default.

It is now possible to choose the color depth of an imported image. The available choices are Black and White, 16 Shades of Gray, 256 Colors, and Millions of Colors. When the number of colors is set to 256 or fewer, the image is now optimized using an improved PNG compression library to achieve smaller file sizes. Scanned certificates are set to 256 colors by default, while Settings Sheets and Worksheets are set to Black and White by default. Photographic images are set to Millions of Colors by default, and are typically imported as JPEG images.

When the cursor is moved across the visual preview of an imported image, a pair of boxes showing close-ups of the original and optimized versions of the image now appear at the bottom of the panel. These close-ups follow the movement of the cursor, previewing the effects of any specified optimizations and changes in color depth.

When an image file is chosen for importation and the document type is not able to be determined based on the content of the file name, the document type now defaults to Calibration Certificate. Previously the default document type was Worksheet.

The application windows used for importing and printing documents now expand when possible to take advantage of larger displays, providing more detailed image previews.

It is now possible to add custom “Special Request Info” to a Radon Calibration Certificate before printing it. When printing a Blank Radon Calibration Certificate, a checkbox can be used to optionally add a set of blank lines to the certificate so that notes be added after printing.

The Calibration Tool no longer allows clearly erroneous dates to be applied to imported documents. Specifically, the stated Year cannot be earlier than 1979, the month must be between 1 and 12, and the Day must be between 1 and 31.

It is now possible to reprint Calibration Certificates that were originally imported as scanned documents, with the “COPY” watermark applied to to the printout if desired. An “Overprint to fill page” checkbox makes it possible to expand the certificate to fill the page margins. This causes the printout to match the certificate’s original size, however any notes written at the far edges of the certificate may be cropped off, if they are outside the printable region.

It is now possible to select an oversized company logo for use on a Calibration Certificate. The program will automatically downsample the image as necessary.

Version 2.2 (March 2018):

Reprinted RAD7 Calibration Certificates are now assigned a watermark reading “COPY”, and they include a message stating that the content of the certificate is identical to that of the original.

In the Document Browser, an icon of a printer now appears next to the name of a RAD7 Calibration Certificate that has already been printed. An icon of a pen now appears next to the name of a RAD7 Calibration Certificate that has been physically signed and scanned back into the computer.

If both a printed and a signed version of a particular RAD7 Calibration Certificate are present, only one entry appears for the item in the Calibration Documents list. Controls have been added for toggling between the printed and signed representations of the file in the document preview panel.

The Durridge Company logo is no longer offered as a built-in logo option that may be applied to printed Calibration Certificates. This change allows the program to be licensed to non-Durridge customers, who must select their own unique logo to apply to printed documents.

Version 2.1.9 (February 2018):

Warnings about unrecognized property names in RAD7 data files are no longer added to the Program Log files. Such warnings could potentially consume a lot of space in the logs when the program loaded files containing outdated data.

A warning message now appears on a Thoron Calibration Certification Report if the BA Spill Factor was not able to be calculated.

The company logo that is printed on RAD7 Calibration Certificates is now selected using a simplified user interface.

Encoded images are now written to files in a base64 format that omits line breaks and invalid trailing characters, allowing the images to be properly reloaded as necessary.

Version 2.1.8 (January 2018):

The Thoron Calibration window now contains controls for downloading a specified data run from a particular RAD7 and then generating the necessary calibration documents. This resolves a problem in which a RAD7’s thoron data became unavailable once the instrument advanced to the start of its next run.

A new menu command, Print Blank Radon Calibration Certificate, can be used to print an empty Radon Calibration Certificate that can be filled in by hand.

Images stored in the application preferences file are now encoded in Base64 format instead of Hex format. This reduces file sizes and improves loading speed.

The company logo that is printed on RAD7 Calibration Certificates is now a user-supplied image resource, rather than a built-in Durridge logo. This is intended to make the Calibration Tool suitable for third party users. The next version of the Calibration Tool will finalize the shift away from automatically applying Durridge branding to printed certificates.

It is now possible to perform a RH Calibration on a RAD7 even if no cycles have been completed within the device’s current run.

Version 2.1.7 (December 2017):

RAD7 Calibration Certificates now contain an updated Durridge logo and new fonts.

When printing RAD7 Calibration Certificates, it is now possible to independently specify the visibility of the radon chamber’s NRSB Certificate Number and the technician’s NRSB certification number.

Version 2.1.6 (October 2017):

RAD7 status panels now only display colored lights next to the reported sensitivity and spill factor values for Normal RAD7s (not Calibration Standard RAD7s), and only when the calibration procedure is complete. These lights are not visible if the calibrated sensitivities and spill factors are impertinent.

Temperature data is now always displayed in Celsius units on the graph display in the Document Browser. Previously it appeared in the temperature unit that the RAD7 was set to when the data was originally downloaded.

Some user interface elements in the RAD7 Statuses panel now appear crisper on high-definition Retina displays.

The Program Log panel no longer reports errors when loading RAD7 data files containing deprecated RAD7 Record Set properties.

Version 2.1.5 (September 2017):

The formatting and content of Thoron Calibration Certification Reports have been improved. Reports now contain listings of any errors detected in the RAD7 data file, as well as the version number of the Calibration Tool which generated the report.

It is now possible to perform thoron calibrations using data obtained automatically from connected RAD7s. Alternatively, a previously saved RAD7 data file may be supplied.

Thoron calibration data files can now be saved directly to the Calibration Data Archive, along with thoron calibration factor reports and thoron calibration certification reports. Additionally, thoron calibration data files may now be viewed in the Document Browser.

If no thoron-free records are present in a thoron calibration data set, the thoron calibration factor report omits the BA Spill Factor and instead states “Not calculated: no zero thoron records found (!)”. This warning indicates that the thoron calibration is not comprehensive.

The appearance of the colored indicator lights on the Settings Sheet editing panel is now based on a thorough assessment of acceptable sensitivity and spill factor ranges. Separate acceptable value ranges are maintained for RAD7s with regular and large domes.

The assignment of colored indicator lights has been improved, with each color representing one standard deviation from the mean of the assumed value distribution. For example green lights represent the central 68% of the distribution, encompassing one standard deviation.

Colored indicator lights now appear next to the Sensitivity and CB Spill Factor listings on RAD7 Status display panels, alerting the user to any values falling outside acceptable ranges.

Valid RAD7 data files are now less likely to be overwritten by corrupt RAD7 data that appears to contain newer records.

When a RAD7 Calibration Report is generated for a newly manufactured RAD7, the report now indicates that the previous sensitivity values were set to factory defaults.

The Data Archive Statistics Window now displays a series of histograms revealing the distributions of calibrated Normal Sensitivity, Sniff Sensitivity, and CB Spill Factor values observed throughout the RAD7 data archive.

The Data Archive Statistics Window now correctly analyzes the content of RAD7 data files. This addresses a regression that occurred in version 2.1.4.

Calibration Reports are no longer listed in the Document Browser when the list is filtered to display only Calibration Certificates.

Closing the main program window now causes the application to exit fully, even if one or more RAD7s are connected.

The appearance of the graph lines and labels on the real-time Program State graph has been improved. Graph line colors now accurately reflect the state of the corresponding RAD7.

Pre-Calibration Check Reports are now formatted correctly in the RAD7 Statuses panel.

Certain user interface elements are now sharper and more detailed on high-definition Retina displays.

Version 2.1.4 (July 2017):

When printing a particular calibration certificate for the first time, the Previous Calibration fields are no longer pre-populated with date and sensitivity values obtained from the most recent Calibration Initialization Data file. This protects against inappropriately printing internal figures obtained during interim calibration procedures completed while the RAD7 was being serviced. These fields are still able to auto-populated with known figures when reprinting a previously printed certificate.

When printing calibration certificates and reports, if you cancel the printing of a particular certificate the accompanying report is no longer automatically skipped as well.

When the RAD7 Calibration Tool is unable to parse the response to a RAD7 command, it now provides a detailed explanation of the specific response parsing failure.

Pre-Calibration Check Reports now display checkmarks next to each “Pass” value, to make it easier to distinguish passing results from ones marked with “FAIL” labels.

When RAD7 data is found to contain suspect date or spill factor values, warnings now appear in the accompanying calibration reports and in the data graph panel. If a RAD7 contains records with unreasonable dates, it now must be erased before a calibration can proceed. The presence of any existing data files with problematic date values will no longer compromise the saving of new data.

When a RAD7 is found to have been assigned an unreasonable calibration date, the RAD7 can once again be discovered by the Calibration Tool. In the previous version of the program, any RAD7s with unreasonable calibration dates were rejected. In the RAD7 Statuses panel, green and red light icons now indicate whether RAD7 calibration dates are valid.

After applying calibrated sensitivity and spill factor values to a RAD7, a more thorough status refresh now occurs so that the latest calibrated figures are displayed in the RAD7 Statuses panel.

Additional user interface elements have been updated to take advantage of high-definition Retina displays.

The RAD7 Calibration Tool can now take full advantage of files produced using the latest specification of the R7CDT file format. These files retain information on record modes obtained from RAD7 printer output, allowing the program to know with certainty the RAD7 mode in which data was recoded.

Version 2.1.3 (July 2017):

If date information is missing from the parameter sets used to generate radon calibration reports and certificates, the previous sensitivity and spill factor values are no longer excluded from the documents.

The Validate Data Archive window now reports any problems with the dates in Calibration Initialization Data files.

The customer name is no longer included in the columns on printed Settings Sheets, because it also appears in the page header. This provides more room for notes at the bottom of the sheet.

The text and graphics on the RAD7 Statuses panel now look much sharper and more detailed on high-definition Retina displays. User interface elements in the panel are more responsive.

Version 2.1.2 (July 2017):

Print record files now contain information on whether Calibration Certificates and/or Calibration Reports were included in a print job. This information determines which synthesized “(Printed)” items are included in the Document Browser.

When opening a new version of the Calibration Tool for the first time, the user is no longer prompted to restore the default preferences. This protects important user-configured settings such as technician names from being erased.

The user interface controls in the Document Browser are now properly initialized when the program launches.

Version 2.1.1 (July 2017)

Changing the number of cycles to omit from a Calibration Report no longer affects the content of previously printed reports viewed in the Document Browser. When a document is printed, the number of omitted cycles is now recorded to the associated parameters file.

Duplicate Calibration Report entries are no longer listed in the Document Browser for reports that have been printed.

The previous sensitivity and spill factor values are now more reliably included in calibration document parameter set files. Additionally, spill factor values are now recorded with greater precision.

When viewing a digital Settings Sheet in the Document Browser, the associated Hardware Configuration properties are now displayed on the screen above the Settings table.

The View Data Archive Statistics command now collects statistics for Hardware Config files in addition to other file types.

Scanned Calibration Reports that are stored as image files now appear in the Document Browser as intended.

The most recent calibration document print settings are now stored in the application preferences.

Version 2.1 (June 2017):

A new Hardware Config document type stores hardware-related RAD7 attributes that were previously stored within Settings Sheets. When a Settings Sheet is printed, the desired Hardware Config information is included on the printout at the top of the page.

The formatting of notes has been improved on printed Settings Sheets. Text now wraps properly between lines, and there is now more room for notes than before.

In the Thoron Calibration Window, the Save Calibration Factor Report button and Save Calibration Certification Report button now save reports directly to the calibration data archive. Thoron Calibration Certification Reports are now saved as high-resolution PNG images, eliminating the need to print those documents to PDF format and then re-import them.

Previews of Thoron Calibration Certification Report documents are now shown in high resolution on Retina displays. The Thoron Calibration Factor Report and Thoron Calibration Certification Report previews now appear side-by-side for easier viewing.

Version 2.0.7 (June 2017):

The RAD7 Calibration Tool now facilitates thoron calibration procedures. The thoron calibration functionality matches that of CAPTURE, and it can be accessed from the menu bar by choosing Show Thoron Calibration Window from the View menu.

Several changes have been made to the content of Settings Sheet documents: an ‘Air Flow Rate’ property has been added; the ‘Company’ property is now called ‘Customer’; and the ‘Calibration Technician Name’ and ‘Out of Factory Mode’ properties have been removed.

When printing a Settings Sheet containing multiple columns, notes now appear at the bottom of the page for each selected column. Previously only one set of notes could appear on each printout.

Records of previous calibration document print operations are now saved in a more compact format; the included Standard RAD7 data content now includes only the records recorded within the date range of the calibration procedure.

If a Standard RAD7 is found to contain data in which record run numbers are out of chronological order, calibration procedures are no longer permitted to proceed, and the user is prompted to erase the RAD7 before continuing.

When viewing RAD7 graph data in the Document Browser, the Selection Slope is now calculated automatically and reported on the graph display. It may still be overridden by manually dragging the handles of the slope line. This brings the Selection Slope system into parity with that of CAPTURE version 5.6.2.

The default graph data selection now omits the same number of records that are omitted from calibration reports. This produces representative calculated averages and an appropriate slope line angle.

The Battery Voltage readings in the RAD7 Statuses panel are now accompanied by red or green lights to indicate whether the battery is within an acceptable range. Orange and yellow lights are no longer used.

The acceptable temperature range for a RAD7 undergoing calibration is now based on the average of the reported temperatures from the Standard RAD7s. The maximum acceptable Temperature Delta may be set in the Tolerances panel. The default value for this tolerance is 2.0 degrees Celsius. The acceptable temperature range is no longer defined by static Temperature Max and Temperature Min properties.

The default range of acceptable Battery Voltages is now 6.3V to 7.12V. Previously this range was 6.8V to 7.25V.

Improvements have been made to the thoroughness and efficiency of the Validate Data Archive operation.

The program’s Preferences file is now written to disk properly when the program exits for the first time. A bug was introduced in an earlier release that prevented the preferences data from being written, without preventing it from being re-written if a preferences file already existed.

The Calibration Tool now prompts the user to empty the trash when it is found to contain over 500 outdated calibration files. These files accumulate in the trash through the normal operation of the program when the RAD7 Calibration Data folder is synced to Google Drive.

The Calibration Tool now checks for updates more reliably over slow Internet connections.

Minor improvements have been made to the presentation of graph data when a RAD7 data file is selected in the Document Browser.

The Show Calibration Window command in the View menu may now be used to restore the Calibration Window after it has been minimized.

Graphs now display data using the pCi/L concentration unit in all cases, instead of relying on the associated RAD7 data file’s built-in concentration unit.

Version 2.0.6 (January 2017):

A collection of statistics pertaining to the archive of RAD7 calibration data may now be retrieved using the View Data Archive Statistics command in the File Menu. This command prompts the application to collect and display a variety of information on the calibration file archive.

In the Print Calibration Reports and Certificates dialog box, the RAD7 Serial Number field is now automatically populated with the serial number of any RAD7 selected in the Document Browser or RAD7 Statuses panel, and the date of the most recent print operation is automatically selected in the accompanying pop-up menu.

Calibration Reports and Certificates that have been printed are now more accurately labeled as such in the File Browser.

The Validate Data Archive operation is now completed more quickly and with greater accuracy. Calibration reports from prior to 2014 are no longer flagged as redundant.

RAD7 data files containing records from prior to the year 2000 are now interpreted properly.

The expression of long time durations has been corrected.

Version 2.0.5 (January 2017):

The panels for viewing and editing Settings Sheets have been updated with renamed properties and a revised control layout.

Version 2.0.4 (January 2017):

When a Calibration Data File or Standard Data File is selected in the Document Browser, a graph now appears showing the data file’s radon concentration, temperature, and humidity readings. The graph is able to be navigated in much the same manner as a CAPTURE graph, and it appears at the full available screen resolution. Accompanying statistics appear directly under the graph image.

Four new fields have been added to the Settings Sheet editor: CALIBN % Diff, Company, Dome Received Date, and 2A-2B From Heat. When a Settings Sheet is displayed in the Document Browser, the new properties appear near the bottom of each data column. These properties are also included on printed Settings Sheets.

The Settings Sheet editing panel and Text Notes editing panel now each contain an Apply button, allowing changes to be saved without closing the panel. Another button labeled Apply and Close is used to save changes and exit the panel.

When creating a new Settings Sheet or Text Notes document, it is now possible to base the content of the new document on that of the file currently selected in the File Browser. This is done using a checkbox in the Create Document Dialog.

A program error no longer occurs when printing certain RAD7 Calibration Reports without an accompanying RAD7 Calibration Certificate.

The Calibration Tool is now a code-signed macOS application, meaning computers with default Gatekeeper security settings will no longer refuse to launch the application.

Version 2.0.3 (December 2016):

Thoron Calibration Certification Reports and Thoron Calibration Factor Reports may now be imported into the calibration file archive and viewed using the Document Browser. As with other RAD7 Calibration Reports these reports may be imported as text-based fies, image-based files, or PDFs.

Calibration Setting Sheets may now be printed using the new “Print Radon Calibration Settings Sheets…” command in the File Menu. A print configuration dialog box is used to specify which settings data column(s) to include in the printout, and to preview the printed document.

When creating a new Calibration Settings Sheet, the program now assigns default values to several of the Settings Sheet fields based on the most recent existing Calibration Settings Sheet file for the RAD7 in question, if such a file exists.

Selecting a Calibration Settings Sheet in the Document Browser now causes the table of settings data to scroll to the appropriate location so that the highlighted column is visible.

The “Clean Up Data Archive” command has been replaced with a “Validate Data Archive” command. This feature scans the data archive and presents the user with a list of files that are suspected to be problematic, rather than automatically deleting suspect files. Files that contain subsets of other files, inconsistent date information, or incorrectly ordered test or run numbers are added to the list. The validation routine no longer stalls when loading video files or other large items that can be identified as non-RAD7 data files.

Indicator lights now appear next to the RADLINK Version listings on connected RAD7s. These lights appear red or green depending on whether the latest version of RADLINK is present on the device. A related indicator light labeled “All RAD7s have best RADLINK vers.” appears in the Program State panel.

The program now keeps track of whether a RAD7’s run and test number entries were transferred in the expected ascending order, and whether the record dates were transferred in the expected chronological order. A green or red indicator light is displayed as warranted. Another indicator light labeled “All RAD7 tests are in correct order” appears in the Program State panel.

If a RAD7 data file has any problems with test and run numbering, its contents are no longer considered when determining which files contain subsets of other files and should be removed and replaced.

Video files may now be assigned text captions, as with photos. A video’s caption is displayed directly under it when the video is selected in the Document Browser.

In the Settings Sheet editor, the Functional Factory Reset Button checkbox has been been replaced with a pop-up menu that can be set to either “Functional”, “Nonfunctional”, or “Unspecified”.

Printed RAD7 Calibration Certificates now state that annual calibrations should be performed per EPA recommendation, rather than per NRSB recommendation.

The Program State panel now reports the number of physical or virtual serial ports present in the system.

Text-based calibration report files may now be reclassified after being imported. These includes Radon Calibration Reports as well as thoron-related report files.

Unsupported files are no longer listed in the Document Browser. Only the names of files that can be viewed are included.

In the File Browser, clicking to the right of the final column in the Settings Sheet data table no longer produces an error message.

The Calibration Window no longer appears too large to fit on a laptop display when a new version of the Calibration Tool application is opened for the first time.

Version 2.0.2 (December 2016):

When creating a new Settings Sheet, the Calibration Tool now obtains the RAD7’s memory address values automatically if the RAD7 is connected and in Factory Mode. A total of 35 different property values are obtained from RAD7 memory addresses. The program displays a Green or Red indicator light next to each address value to indicate whether it is within an acceptable range. It takes 30 seconds to collect the needed information from a RAD7 operating at 9600 baud.

When moving the cursor over the “00-0F Windows” ComboBox in the Settings Sheet Editor, a tooltip now appears, listing the expected values for the first 16 memory addresses.

If a Settings Sheet or Text Notes file is being created and it is about to overwrite an existing document, the program now prompts the user to confirm the operation.

When a Settings Sheet is selected in the Document Browser, clicking on a different column in the table of Settings data now changes the selected Settings document and highlights the associated column in the table.

In the Document Browser, when changing the document sorting between “Sort by Name” and “Sort by Date” the previously selected document now remains selected in the Document Browser.

The Settings and Tolerances controls must now be deliberately unlocked each time the user returns to the Settings and Tolerances panel.

When using the Settings and Tolerances panel to restore the default program settings, the user is now prompted to confirm the operation.

Version 2.0.1 (December 2016):

It is now possible to import Radon Calibration Report documents that were previously saved in the PDF or plain text formats. Previously Radon Calibration Report documents were only able to be generated from within the Calibration Tool itself.

When importing or reclassifying calibration documents, they may now be rotated in increments of 90 degrees, instead of 180 degrees. It is not possible to rotate Radon Calibration Report documents in the PDF format, because doing so would convert them to images, compromising the page count.

When importing or reclassifying image-based calibration documents, they are new resaved as lossless PNG files or JPEG files of medium quality, whichever format produces a smaller file–but only if that format results in a file size reduction of 25% or more compared to the original item.

Captions may now be added to photos. The captions appear directly under photos in the Document Browser, and they can edited at any time.

It is now possible to create and modify Text Notes, in addition to importing them from existing text files.

Version 2.0 (November 2016):

It is now possible to browse an archive of calibration documents, including Certificates, Worksheets, and Settings sheets, plus RAD7 data files, photos, videos, and text notes. The Document Browser includes menus and search fields for locating particular files as needed. Files may sorted by type or by date. High resolution previews are available for all scanned and synthesized documents.

Calibration documents such as scanned forms and photos may be imported into the archive and assigned data tags making it possible to easily locate them in the archive. Once imported, files may be reclassified, with the assignment of different serial numbers, dates, and other attributes.

A new Print Calibration Documents window offers three options for printing Radon Calibration Reports and RAD7 Calibration Certificates. Documents may be printed for the selected RAD7s; they may be reprinted based on records of previous print operations stored on disk; or they may be printed based on user-specified RAD7 data files.

It is now possible to create and edit digital Settings sheets. Each Settings sheet consists of several dozen fields used to record the condition of a RAD7 that has arrived for service.

If RAD7 device information is not present in the data files used to generate a Radon Calibration Report or RAD7 Calibration Certificate, the user is now prompted to enter the device serial number and any other needed information.

The program now displays a status panel for a RAD7 even if one or more of the data records on the device contain fatal errors. The errors are reported in the Program Log panel.

The RAD7 Device Status panel now reports the number of valid tests stored on a RAD7, as well as the total number of tests stored on the instrument. If one or more tests are invalid (for example if a test has a Live Time of zero) a corresponding indicator light turns red.

When a RAD7 is disconnected due to one or more of its data records being unable to be parsed, a thorough explanation is now provided in the Program Log.

Calibration Certificates now state the Spill Factor as the “CB Spill Factor” to avoid ambiguity.

If the application is closed immediately after launching, it no longer records an empty preferences file to disk.

Version 1.6.3 (July 2016):

The correct Sensitivity Conversion Factors now appear on Calibration Reports and Calibration Certificates. Previously these factors were listed correctly in pCi/L units but incorrectly in Bq/m3 units.

RAD7 data files are now stored using the “Enhanced RAW” file format, rather than the “R7CDT” format. This provides more information for any needed debugging operations.

The Calibration Tool now extracts more verbose printer output information from RAD7s to ensure that the devices are set to print in the Long format when idle.

If any portion of a RAD7’s printer output data is not able to be obtained during a download procedure, the operation is deemed unsuccessful and another download attempt is performed.

Version 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 (June 2016):

The graph now renders properly even when RAD7 bins are not visible.

The program now handles data records that do not have corresponding printer output data.

Problems with the graph have been addressed. The program no longer fails when a RAD7 has no recent readings. Additionally, the bottom of the radon concentration scale is no longer allowed to drop below zero.

Version 1.6 (June 2016):

The Program State panel now contains a color-coded graph showing the radon levels of each selected RAD7 in real time.

A radon level status light now indicates whether a RAD7’s radon reading is within reasonable bounds for the current cycle. The status light only appears if the uncertainty value is less than 10% of the base value for the cycle in progress, preventing warning lights from appearing prematurely.

The formatting of the Calibration Certificate has been improved. The page is now laid out properly with respect to the paper size and the possible omission of NRSB accreditation information.

The duration of a Radon Calibration procedure is now correctly stated on the Radon Calibration Report.

Versions 1.5.6 through 1.5.8 (May 2016):

Calibration Certificates and Calibration Reports are now reformatted as appropriate to fit on a variety of paper sizes, including A4 and Legal paper. Letter sized paper remains supported as well. The Page Setup dialog box can now be used to configure page options.

It is no longer possible to install RADLINK versions 252, 300, and 310. These have been replaced with versions 253, 301, and 311, respectively.

Bugs preventing reports from being generated and data files from being saved to disk have been fixed.

When preparing Radon Calibration Certificates, it is now necessary to supply the previous calibration date manually.

It is now possible to print a Radon Calibration Certificate even if the RAD7 has not undergone calibration for the recommended number of hours. A warning dialog prompts the user to confirm such printing operations.

Versions 1.5.4 and 1.5.5 (January 2016):

Radon Calibration Reports containing fewer than 36 hours of calibration data are now marked as “Preliminary”. Previously the threshold was 42 hours.

Radon Calibration Reports marked as “Preliminary” may now be loaded from disk and printed. If a radon calibration procedure is stopped while still in the Preliminary phase, the “Rn Cal Complete” label will once again appear as expected.

It is now possible to install RADLINK version 311 on a RAD7 using the Install RADLINK command in the RAD7 menu. Older RADLINK versions may still be installed as well.

Versions 1.5.2 and 1.5.3 (December 2015):

The REPRINT watermark may now be hidden from a reprinted Radon Calibration Certificate by unchecking the Include Reprint Watermark checkbox in the Print Radon Calibration Certificates window.

When printing a Radon Calibration Certificate, if the Date of Previous Calibration fields are left empty, the report will now contain a blank line instead of an assumed date. If the Include Information On Previous Calibration CheckBox is unchecked, the Date of Previous Calibration, Previous Spill Factor, and Previous Sensitivity listings will appear as blank lines on the certificate.

It is now possible to install RADLINK version 310 on a RAD7 using the Install RADLINK command in the RAD7 menu. RADLINK versions 252 and 300 may still be installed as well.

Radon Calibration Reports may now longer be generated if inconsistencies are found within the sets of observed NORMAL or SNIFF sensitivities of a RAD7 Record Set.

Versions 1.5 and 1.5.1 (November 2015):

It is now possible to print a Radon Calibration Certificate for a RAD7 that is no longer physically present. The updated Print Radon Calibration Certificate command now presents the user with the option of choosing to either print Certificates for the selected RAD7s, or to print a certificate for another RAD7 of the user’s choice. This second option involves specifying up to four Standard RAD7s. The resulting Certificate is produced entirely from data already present on disk.

Radon Calibration Reports are no longer saved as separate files every day. If a radon calibration procedure takes more than one day, the previous day’s report is overwritten by the current one.

The new Clean Up Data Archive command may be used to scan through the collection of RAD7 data, eliminating any reports that are found to be redundant. If a report’s date range is found to represent a subset of records contained within another report, then the smaller of the two reports is deleted.

Records of Calibration Tool program activity are now logged to disk. The log files are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/DURRIDGE RAD7 Calibration Tool/Program Logs/, and are separated by year and month. The Show Application Log Files command in the File menu reveals the folder containing these logs.

Any new data records and Radon Calibration Reports are now only written to disk if doing so would not overwrite an older file holding unique content. This prevents older RAD7 data files and Radon Calibration Reports from disappearing unexpectedly after a RAD7’s Data Erase command has been issued.

If a RAD7 is found to have insufficient battery voltage, it is no longer permitted to undergo a radon calibration procedure. A red light appears in the Program State panel if one more connected RAD7s has insufficient battery voltage.

When printing Radon Calibration Certificates NRSB Certification numbers may now be selected from a ComboBox so that they do not have to be re-entered every time a different technician uses the program.

When a Radon Calibration procedure begins, the data sets of the affected RAD7s are initialized. Previously this initialization was erroneously applied to Standard RAD7s, causing existing Radon Calibration Reports to become temporarily inaccessible.

Version 1.4.3 (October 2015):

When a calibrated Spill Factor value is being assigned to a RAD7, the Factory CalbSav command is now automatically issued to confirm the change. Previously it was necessary to issue Factory CalbSav manually before powering the RAD7 off in order to prevent the new Spill Factor value from being lost.

Sensitivity and Spill Factor values are no longer subject to rounding errors in which the values appearing on Radon Calibration Reports and being entered into the RAD7 may be off by 1 unit.

The formula used to evaluate RAD7 timing has been improved. This should prevent RAD7 states from being misidentified as the device nears the end of a cycle.

When clicking outside a text field, the insertion point is now removed from the field and the value that was entered is saved. Previously changes could only be confirmed by pressing Enter or Tab, or moving the focus to a different text field.

The font used to render RAD7 status panel content is now set to a fixed typographical style. Previously the system font was used, but it was variable based on the operating system version, and wider fonts could exceed the available space.

Version 1.4.2 (October 2015):

The Energy Saving Mode label now moves at fixed time intervals to prevent screen burn-in.

The Rescan for RAD7s button is now available for use after installing or disabling RADLINK. Previously the button was disabled, making it necessary to re-launch the program before RAD7s could be detected.

When assigning calibrated sensitivity and spill factor values to a RAD7 whose calibration was completed during an earlier program session, the device’s RAD7 record set is now successfully regenerated.

Comparisons between new and existing Spill Factor values are now conducted with looser tolerances, in accordance with the level of precision with which such values are stored in the RAD7.

When a RAD7’s data is erased, the cumulative Counts and CPM figures are now reset.

The Spill Factor and Sensitivity values are now listed in the same order on the RAD7 status display as on the Radon Calibration Report. The Spill Factor is reported in its (x65536) format, which is consistent with the format displayed more prominently on the Radon Calibration Report.

When the list of Calibration Standards is modified, the validity of any saved Radon Calibration Report may be affected. Any such changes are now reflected on screen without the need to rescan for RAD7s.

Versions 1.4 and 1.4.1 (September 2015):

In the Print RAD7 Calibration Certificates dialog box, clicking the Cancel button now advances to the dialog box for the next selected RAD7. Previously this operation would cancel all print procedures. The dialog box now also has a clearer title, and the tab order has been improved.

The Calibration Tool now enters an Energy Saving Mode when left unattended for longer than 4 minutes. This reduces the program’s CPU usage by 97% without disrupting the core functionality of the application. Moving the cursor restores interactivity and brightens the display. Computers using less efficient CPUs, particularly those manufactured prior to 2012, will output noticeably less heat while Energy Saving Mode is active.

It is now possible to change the company name, address, and logo which appear at the top of Radon Calibration Certificates. Modified properties are stored in the program’s preferences file.

When configuring a Calibration Certificate, if the Include NRSB Certification Number checkbox is unchecked, the NRSB Accredited Radon Chamber Certificate Number heading is now excluded from the certificate.

The default RAD7 status refresh interval is now 10 minutes. Previously it was 5 minutes.

When printing a set of multiple Calibration Certificates, the list of reference unit serial numbers no longer grows longer with each successive report.

Radon Calibration Reports are no longer generated if one or more of the designated Standard RAD7s are not able to supply valid data. Any Standard RAD7 that can not contribute data must now be manually unassigned. This change is intended to prevent uncertainty over which Standard RAD7s are contributing to the creation of a report.

RAD7 status display panels no longer contain green “Pre-Cal Done”, “Rn Cal Done”, and “RH Cal Done” labels if the respective calibration procedures were completed prior to the current program session. Instead, labels display these states in gray, or if none of these states apply, the RAD7 is simply listed as “Live” or “Idle” as appropriate. Any already completed reports will still be available for viewing in the Reports panel.

If a RAD7 is Live and its cycle time matches that of the Standards, it will now only be identified as undergoing Radon Calibration if it is actually synced to the Standards.

When the program is quitting, the Special SprOff command is now issued to any RAD7s whose Spr state is thought to be On. This allows end-of-cycle infrared printing operations to proceed while the program is not in use.

The program no longer miscalculates the time remaining in a cycle when determining whether RH Calibration procedures should be permitted.

The Calibration Date reported on a Radon Calibration Certificate is now set to the date of the last record in the RAD7 data set used for calibration, rather than to the current date. The recommended date for the next calibration is now also based on the date of the last record, plus 365 days.

Version 1.3.4 (August 2015):

If a Standard RAD7 is erased, the program no longer reports a communication failure. It now communicates with the RAD7 successfully even if no data is present.

If a Radon Calibration is initiated and one or more RAD7s is not in Factory Mode, the user will be alerted, and prompted to cancel or confirm the operation.

Unless Factory Mode is enabled, Sensitivity figures are no longer recorded to disk at the start of a Radon Calibration procedure.

If Sensitivity values are obtained by analyzing a RAD7s data set, rather than by using the PeekPok command to access them directly, they are marked with an “(est)” to indicate that the figures are estimates.

When a Radon Calibration procedure is ended for a RAD7 that is not in Factory Mode, the dialog box comparing the previous sensitivity values to the new sensitivity values will indicate that the previous sensitivities are unknown. (Factory Mode is required to get, but not to set, RAD7 sensitivities).

Version 1.3.3 (August 2015)

RAD7 data files for Standard RAD7s and normal RAD7s are now loaded from disk when the program launches. This decreases the amount of time required for the program to display reports for RAD7s that have already undergone partial or complete calibration procedures.

Spill Factor values are now stored with greater precision on disk, to prevent rounding errors when transferring integer-based multiples of these values to and from RAD7s.

The Mean Temperature and Mean Radon Concentration figures shown on Radon Calibration Certificates now encompass only the data records included in the associated Radon Calibration report. Generally the first two records are omitted, and their content is no longer reflected on the certificate.

The calibration technician’s NRSB Certification Number may now be omitted from the Radon Calibration Report if desired.

An indicator light has been added to the top left corner of the RAD7 status display to show whether the RAD7 is Live or Idle.

Normal Sensitivity and Sniff Sensitivity values are now reported with greater accuracy on Radon Calibration Certificates.

The layout of the Radon Calibration Report has been modified to improve readability.

RAD7 data file icons now appear at high resolution on both macOS and Windows.

Version 1.3.2 (August 2015):

Radon Calibration Certificates now include the correct Conversion Factor values for Normal and Sniff sensitivities. Previously the stated Conversion Factor values matched the base Sensitivity values.

Status panels for RAD7s that have completed RH Calibration procedures no longer display red warning lights when the relative humidity rises above the value that was targeted while the RH calibration process was underway. It is understood that the RH can be expected to rise somewhat once the pump is no longer running continuously.

If RH Calibration is initiated for a RAD7 that is no longer undergoing Radon Calibration, the program will allow the operation to proceed without comment, provided the most recent Radon Calibration procedure was terminated within the last ten minutes. Otherwise, a warning message will inform the user that the RAD7’s recent pump activity may have been insufficient to achieve the conditions appropriate for RH Calibration.

Version 1.3.1 (August 2015):

Radon Calibration Reports now list the Spill Factor value above the Sensitivity values, for consistency with other record keeping documents.

Radon Calibration Certificates now express Spill Factor and Previous Spill Factor values using three digits after the decimal point rather than four, to better adhere to established standards.

A bug that caused Previous Spill Factor values to be reported as zero on Radon Calibration Reports has been fixed.

Version 1.3 (August 2015):

The Previous Spill Factor values are now included in Radon Calibration Reports. These values are compared to the calibrated Spill Factor and the percent difference is reported.

It is now possible to print Calibration Certificates. Previously these certificates had to be filled out by hand based on information taken from the RAD7 and from Calibration Reports. Although certificates are filled out automatically, certain figures may be overridden by the user.

Relative Humidity calibration procedures may now be conducted more quickly: if the RAD7 is reporting the target humidity value at the beginning of the RH calibration process, the program skips direction to the verification stage of RH calibration.

The Calibration Tool now recalls completed reports from disk and displays them in the main program window. Any completed Pre-Calibration Check Report or Radon Calibration report that was generated within the last 21 days will be displayed. For Relative Humidity Calibration Reports, the limit is 7 days.

Rescanning for RAD7s or quitting the application while one or more Relative Humidity Calibration procedures are in progress now triggers the cancellation of the RH Calibration procedure(s). This prevents the RAD7 pumps from running continuously at inappropriate times.

Improvements have been made in the formatting of Pre-Calibration Check reports and Relative Humidity Calibration Reports to improve readability.

By default, Pre-Calibration Check procedures now consist of (6) 20-minute cycles with no skipped cycles.

Version 1.2.2 (August 2015):

When stopping a Radon Calibration procedure, the program now prompts the user to initiate an RH Calibration only if an RH Calibration Report was not already successfully generated for the RAD7 during the current session.

The Program Log now contains detailed information about erroneous RAD7 data records. Previously only the offending record data was displayed.

Versions 1.1.9, 1.2 and 1.2.1 (July 2015):

Erroneous RAD7 data records that can not be parsed are now reported in the Program Log.

The Pre-Calibration Check button is now enabled only when the selected RAD7 is idle. Previously this button was available when the RAD7 was in the middle of a calibration run, and clicking it could compromise the run, potentially wiping out days of work.

The program now prompts the user to confirm when switching directly from a Pre-Calibration Check to a Radon Calibration procedure.

The RH Calibration button is now enabled when there is a sufficient amount of time remaining in the RAD7’s cycle. Previously certain conditions would cause this button to become disabled inappropriately.

It is now feasible to calibrate a RAD7 for Relative Humidity while it is idle. The Calibration Tool no longer prevents the RH Calibration from starting if a RAD7 is nearing the end of its cycle and it is idle.

Dates are new displayed in RAD7 status panels using four digits for the year.

Versions 1.1.7 and 1.1.8 (June 2015)

The application no longer crashes if a Pre-Calibration Check is performed immediately after powering a RAD7 off or removing it from the calibration chamber.

RAD7 status panels now display the average CPM for each window throughout the current run, in addition to the average CPM for the current cycle in progress. The same is done for the Total Counts value. Figures pertaining to the current run are placed in parenthesis following the corresponding figure for the current cycle, for example “CPM A: 184 (727)”

When calibration is stopped for multiple RAD7s at the same time, the program now offers to update the sensitivity values for each affected RAD7, not just the first one. It also offers to begin RH calibration for each eligible device.

The Graph Selected RAD7 Data in CAPTURE menu command no longer opens the data in the Calibration Tool. Likewise, double-clicking on a RAD7 data file now opens it in CAPTURE, rather than the Calibration Tool.

Versions 1.1.4 through 1.1.6 (May 2015)

RADLINK installation now proceeds more quickly on older computers with weaker CPUs, especially when the Calibration Tool’s application window size is maximized.

RADLINK installation and removal operations now involve error checking. If a character is dropped while being sent to the RAD7 it will no longer be able to compromise the device.

When a Standard RAD7 is started, it is now automatically synced to an established schedule of operation. With standard 6-hour cycle lengths, Standard RAD7s will now complete cycles at 2:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 8:00 PM.

The RAD7 communication timeout period has been increased, to prevent RAD7s from being incorrectly identified as unresponsive. Likewise, the timeout period for connecting to the program update server has been increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds, to ensure that update notifications arrive as appropriate.

When a RAD7 cycle is approaching its end, any ongoing RH Calibration operation is canceled. Additionally, RH Calibration may no longer be initiated when the RAD7 is approaching the end of a cycle. These changes help to prevent RH Calibration procedures from interfering with printer operations.

Version 1.1.3 (April 2015):

Minor user interface improvements have been implemented, affecting the display of text and dates.

RH Calibration is now preceded by 8 minutes of continuous pump activity instead of 5 minutes.

The Select All menu command now works properly when the program launches. The menu text is context-sensitive, based on whether the RAD7 Bins panel or a text area has the focus.

Radon Calibration Reports can now be generated when Standard RAD7s are operating under certain conditions that previously generated unwarranted errors.

Version 1.1.2 (March 2015):

The formula used during RH Calibration has been optimized so that the procedure can be completed more rapidly.

RAD7 status panels now indicate when a RAD7 is undergoing Radon Calibration and RH Calibration simultaneously.

The Calibration Reports panel has been split into three columns, for Pre-Calibration Checks, Radon Calibration Reports, and RH Calibration Reports, respectively.

If no Pre-Calibration Check is conducted prior to Radon Calibration, the program will generate a nominal Pre-Calibration Check Report containing only the immediately attainable RAD7 Sensitivity and Spill Factor data. This information will then be included on any subsequent Radon Calibration Report, as the “Previous Sensitivity” data.

Version 1.1.1 (March 2015):

The Program Log is no longer updated whenever a RAD7 Record Set is established, since this happens very frequently.

It is now possible to perform an RH Calibration without first stopping a Radon Calibration procedure.

Program documentation and version history information are now available in the Help menu.

Version 1.1.0 (March 2015):

During RH Calibration, the program now adjusts the RAD7’s humidity sensor until it wobbles between 2% and 3% on a consistent basis. (This target can be adjusted if needed.) This process begins only after at least 5 minutes of continual pump activity. Upon arriving at the correct 2-3% threshold, the program takes 10 consecutive humidity readings, and if 3 or more of them read 2% and three or more of them read 3%, the RH calibration is considered a success. Otherwise, the procedure is repeated.

When a RAD7 is undergoing some procedure other than RH Calibration, the program tolerates RH values of up to 10%, accounting for the fact that an RH Cal has likely not yet occurred and/or the RAD7’s pump has not been running continually. Beyond 10% RH, a red light appears next to the RH reading.

The program now allows more time for an end-of-cycle printout to complete before obtaining the next status update from a RAD7. This gives the RAD7 enough time to print a full run summary (including horizontal bar chart) at the end of a Pre-Calibration Check without being interrupted.

The program now notifies you when an update is available, and the new version can be downloaded automatically, similar to CAPTURE. (I modified the updater system to make it more reliable than CAPTURE’s, and these changes will be rolled back into CAPTURE shortly.)

The RAD7 Calibration Tool now shares a common code library with CAPTURE, so both are using the latest versions of various modules and classes. As a result the Calibration Tool saves RAD7 data in the same file format as CAPTURE 5.4.1. This format is easier for a person to read but it also contains more detail.

Version 1.0 (Fall 2014):

Initial release.
