Durridge Tip
The RAD8's front panel includes four tubing ports: inlet and outlet for the upstream air pump, and inlet and outlet for the downstream measurement chamber. For applications involving an external pump (including the one inside our Active Drystik accessory, shown here), you can use just the latter two to completely bypass the internal pump.
Support for Turkey
Following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey in February, Durridge donated two RAD7s plus soil gas accessories to a professor at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul. Radon has been measured for the purposes of earthquake prediction since as early as 1927, but only with the advent of modern continuous monitors like the RAD7 and RAD8 has it been possible to monitor in real-time, giving the best chance possible of an early warning of imminent seismic activity. Such a warning could save thousands of lives in Istanbul if, as some scientists predict, an earthquake on the North Anatolia Fault Line occurs in near future.
