"When side-by-side studies were run against our liquid scintillation unit we found the RAD H2O to be within +/- 5% of our LS unit. We find the instrument to be more hassle-free than the LS unit because we no longer have to fool around with the Optifluor liquid. ." - From an Environmental Laboratory

According to Google Scholar, over 2,500 research papers have been published using the RAD7!
In a typical porous soil the pump flow rate for radon sampling may be around 0.5 L/min. So the soil gas extraction rate will be around 14 liters every two hours. Depending on the soil porosity, this would come from a sphere around the sampling point of around 8" (20 cm) radius. For this protocol, therefore, it is necessary that the penetration depth be much more than the 20 cm radius. A depth of around 3 f (1 m) or more, would be sufficient in typical soil to permit continuous readings, at 2-hour cycles, indefinitely without diluting the sample with ambient air, provided no air can leak down the outside of the Probe. See Figure 2a, 2b, 2c below.
Sept. 23 - 27th Stephen Sadler, Ph.D. Durridge's Chief Scientist Officer, will be presenting his paper titled "DURRIDGE Continuous Radon Measurement Technology - Present and Future" at the Ninth International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM IX) in Denver, CO.
“Radon is a naturally-occurring compound that has been widely used as a tracer for vapor intrusion….Because radon is ubiquitous in soil gas, it can be used as a general tracer for soil gas entry into a building. Radon measurements are generally inexpensive compared to VOC concentration measurements…”
